Course Details

Course Description/Purpose:
This continuing education (CE) program delves into the unique aesthetic considerations of the transgender population. Participants will gain insights into the complexities of facial and gender analysis, identifying distinguishing features and understanding the spectrum of gender fluidity. The course will cover advanced techniques in the use of injectables, with a particular focus on the application of dilute and hyperdilute biostimulatory fillers to enhance skin tone, texture, and firmness.

To complete this activity and receive credit, the participant should:

  • Review the materials on accreditation information, target audience, learning objectives, and disclosure information
  • Complete the entire self-study
  • Complete the post-test and evaluation/claim form

Educational Objectives
Upon completion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Explain aspects of communication that are centrally important when serving transgender and non-binary patients
  • Understand the difference between gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation
  • Describe what it means to be gender fluid and how this can affect an individual’s mental and physical health
  • Discuss special considerations for facial analysis in the transgender population, including factors associated with hormonal treatment and gender-affirming facial surgery (GFS)
  • Understand key approaches with minimally invasive aesthetic devices for masculinizing or feminizing the face

Target Audience
This CE-accredited activity is designed and intended to educate physicians and extenders who treat transgender individuals who desire options for achieving their aesthetic identity goals. Specialties include dermatologists, plastic surgeons, cosmetic surgeons, and aesthetic/regenerative medicine clinicians.


Continuing Education

There are no fees for participating in and receiving credit for this activity. During the period January 2023 through January 2025, participants must 1) read the learning objectives and faculty disclosures, 2) study the educational activity, 3) complete the posttest by recording the best answer to each question, and 4) complete the evaluation form.

A statement of credit will be issued only upon receipt of a completed activity evaluation form and a completed posttest with a score of 80% or better. Statements of credit will be issued at the end of the program.
