Course Description/Purpose:

This CE/CME Course Series provides a comprehensive overview of neuromodulators and dermal fillers. In this lecture series, the faculty will cover fundamental principles concerning the safe application of dermal fillers. The sessions will delve into identifying facial danger zones and comprehensive insights into preventing and managing vascular occlusion.

To complete this activity and receive credit, the participant should:

Review the materials on accreditation information, target audience, learning objectives, and disclosure information
Complete the entire self-study
Complete the post-test and evaluation/claim form

Educational Objectives

After the program, participants should be better able to: 

  • Explain how to safely inject dermal fillers into the facial Danger Zones as outlined in this course.
  • Describe the major arteries that can cause vascular compromise and potential blindness if accidentally injected with a dermal filler.
  • Describe how to safely inject dermal filler into the temporal region (Danger Zone 2) of the face when injecting dermal fillers.
  • Recognize and explain the signs of vascular compromise when injecting dermal fillers. 
  • Describe an accepted protocol for handling a suspected vascular occlusion from a dermal filler injection.

Target Audience

This accredited activity is designed and intended to educate healthcare professionals who currently perform injectable treatments with dermal fillers and neuromodulators. Primary specialties include dermatology, facial plastic surgery, plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery, and aesthetic medicine.
