Course Description/Purpose:

This CE/CME Course Series provides a comprehensive overview of neuromodulators and dermal fillers. The BoNTA course delves into the characteristics and variations of approved products. Emphasis will be placed on muscle anatomy and effective ways to inject as well as how to treat adverse events, should they occur. The dermal filler segment examines HA and biostimulatory fillers, focusing on product distinctions and optimal usage across facial areas. Participants will gain practical insights for safe and effective cosmetic applications.

To complete this activity and receive credit, the participant should:

  • Review the materials on accreditation information, target audience, learning objectives, and disclosure information
  • Complete the entire self-study
  • Complete the post-test and evaluation/claim form

Educational Objectives

After the program, participants should be better able to: 

  • Explain the differences among the FDA-approved botulinumtoxinA (BoNTA) products.   
  • Describe agonist/antagonist dynamics of the muscles of the face as they relate to BoNTA injections.
  • Explain how to treat upper and lower face complications that may occur with BoNTA injections.   
  • Compare the characteristics of different HA fillers including G’, cohesivity, elastic modulus, and hydrophilicity.
  • Describe how to select an appropriate HA filler when treating different areas of the face such as tear troughs, cheeks, and temples. 
  • Outline the different characteristics of biostimulatory fillers.
  • Explain how diluting biostimulatory fillers helps improve collagen and skin tone and texture.

Target Audience

This accredited activity is designed and intended to educate healthcare professionals who currently perform injectable treatments with dermal fillers and neuromodulators. Primary specialties include dermatology, facial plastic surgery, plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery, and aesthetic medicine.
