Course Description/Purpose:

This CME-certified course reviews the pathophysiology and treatment options for varicose veins, reticular veins and telangiectasias. The course includes lectures, video demonstrations and case studies. The cases include a faculty discussion and before and after photos designed to provide the viewer a full understanding of the course of treatment and final outcomes. 

To complete this activity and receive credit, the participant should:

  • Review the materials on accreditation information, target audience, learning objectives, and disclosure information
  • Complete the entire self-study
  • Complete the post-test and evaluation/claim form

Educational Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Recognize the anatomy and pathophysiology of venous disease
  • Recognize potential complications of sclerotherapy and describe effective treatment options
  • Understand the anatomy and physiology of the lower extremity superficial and deep venous systems
  • Discuss the signs and symptoms of chronic venous disease
  • Review the underlying mechanisms of action of different sclerosing agents and how to best utilize liquid or foam sclerotherapy for lower extremity veins
  • Describe adjuvant or alternative treatment options for lower extremity veins, including light/laser therapy, endovenous thermal ablation, and ambulatory phlebectomy
